The Pet Industry Federation (PIF), the UK trade association for pet businesses, is hosting an export webinar to introduce details of a new export solution for UK pet businesses, who want to sell their products to customers in the EU.

It revealed since Brexit, exporting to the EU has become extremely time-consuming and difficult for UK pet companies. A survey undertaken by PIF in 2021 revealed that the number of pallets being exported to Europe by UK pet companies has dropped by as much as 66%, for products containing animal protein.

Companies wanting to send just groupage rather than full truck loads have been particularly affected by the post-Brexit changes.

PIF has therefore been seeking a solution to export issues which would enable companies to send animal proteins, bird and small animal products, supplements and accessories, as groupage into EU countries in a cost effective and reliable way.

The organisation has partnered with DHL and Associated Veterinary Services to develop a pioneering scheme which will help companies overcome the “huge export challenges” they have been facing and open up the European gateway once again.

PIF’s webinar will reveal details of this scheme; and all UK manufacturers and suppliers, whether currently exporting, new to exporting or looking to get back into exporting, are invited to attend.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday 19 January 2022 at 12pm (GMT) and will cover options currently open to UK companies looking to export, including the new PIF export solution.
